1. Why PZ Cussons?
Tip: The interviewers want to see your passion, hunger and desire for the firm. This is the opportunity to showcase your skills, marrying them to the firm’s culture, vision, mission and values.
2. Sell to me a product (Especially for sales and marketing candidates).
Tip: You are to convince the interviewers as potential customers on why they should purchase your products (PZ Cussons). This is where you sales and marketing skills need to be displayed while not being overbearing. Your ability to sell to your “customer” notwithstanding the various products around depicts your suitability for the role. Think about selling ice to the Eskimos
3. If an offer comes from Unilever, what is your plan?
Tip: Expect this question. PZ Cussons has a high staff turnover due to the training from the firm and her brand. Such trainings are expensive considering she is one of the smaller FMCG MNCs. Here it is: “No doubt, Unilever is a notable firm and has a reputable brand. However, PZ Cussons has a wider brand in Africa and a closely-knitted family where staff are easily recognised and valued. I desire to work here not Unilever; not because of the pay of the latter nor the brand, but due to the inclusive nature of PZ Cussons. Africa is the next frontier and PZ Cussons being firmly rooted here, I desire to make an impact.”
4. Tell me about a time you led a team?
Tip: The interviewer(s) wants to see your leadership qualities. Think about that time where you led a team; whether during school project; religious gathering; excursion or even the captain of a football team. Here, you are expected to narrate the challenges, travails, mission, how disagreements were managed etc. Expect follow-up questions from whatever responses you give.
5. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Tip: A typical question. You are expected to give an insight on where you desire to be while in the profession. The interviewer(s) want to know your ambitions and how how the firm is included in such plans moving forward. For instance, if it is a sales interview. “I see myself being a professional sales analyst providing the best of analysis and marketing services to the firm while delivering quality products to our esteemed and valuable customers.”
