Q&A on CV: Presenting Secondary School Attendance Without Certificate

0

Dear sir,

I don’t have WAEC result but I studied from JSS1 to SSS3. Based on financial reasons I couldn’t sit for WAEC, how should I present it on my CV?

Is it advisable to just stop at First school leaving certificate?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Joe

Dear Joe,

Don’t leave it out. At least you attended secondary school for six years, you should have an edge over someone that did not attend secondary school at all.

You can present it like this:

  • ABC Secondary School      2012 -2018

Just name the school and the years, without adding anything on certificate. You have not lied.

If asked at interview, you can now explain better.  Obviously the job you’re applying for is a clerical or assistantship or blue collar one, if you have performed well during the interview before it got to that stage someone asked for your certificate, your good performance could

All the best
