This Week’s Gossip on Recruitment

With

Mr. Job Tatafo

How I was able to navigate Lagos’ traffic on a rainy day to attend EY’s test after PwC’s should be included in the list of 1001 ways to multitask. Omo, to upload passport for Dragnet site hard gan. In the beginning of Dragnet, there are verbal passages on cryptocurrency, micro plastics, Dewey Library classes and driverless vehicles. But truly, the test no be here. By my assessment, majority of the candidates were dragged tirelessly. Mbok, Dragnet should have pity on Nigerian graduates. Na job we dey find, we no kill person. Thankfully, panel interview don land, Marina building here I come.

Welcome to this week’s tatafooing! I remain your g(host) writer – Job Tatafo.

You remember that Rainoil recruitment, which was first managed by GetQualified then cascaded to Dragnet. Well, the interview went well according to my friend. Normal interview questions though most were current affairs and brain teasers related. Questions like: what special power would you love to have? What animal would you love to be and why? Or asking that you convert your CGPA to percentage terms. Seems they want to employ calculators sha. And just on a good Monday evening, success mails were pouring like rain for successful candidates. After every every, invite for another round of interview landed.

PwC should have said the tax apprenticeship technical test will be based on current affairs and circumference of a circle. Omo, those questions eh (50 in total with CCTV as an invigilator), economics/finance/banking/accounting folks were highly favoured. Coupled with a sound knowledge of current affairs and success mail is a sure banger. Sha, it is tax apprenticeship not engineering apprenticeship. The rain for Oniru did not help sef. Interview loading this weekend. But wait oh, were there any particular preference for computer science and accounting/economics graduates for final interview?

Omo, Nigerian Stock Exchange test no be here oh. The info stated 30 logical questions for 20 minutes only for me and few others to get 36 questions for 20 minutes. Ah Dragnet, Kilonshele?! Although, none from the recently completed EY test was repeated (Dragnet dey repeat questions ni?), but questions were similar. After this, na another test in a physical location. Looking for a job is a job on its own!

Wait oh, ABInvBev had over 30, 000 applications from Nigeria for just 25 positions. Ejoo, don’t ask me for the percentage. The 25 for this year is even good as last year’s was 4! (no be factorial oh). I could recall the firm (ABInvBev) had to stop Nigerians from applying when it exceeded 30, 000 meanwhile Ghanaians, Rwandans and others were still applying. But who has noticed, Heineken and ABInvBev tests were interesting and stimulating. Heineken even showed a mini-movie on beer production across different countries. Baba Chineke bless the recruiting agencies: Harver and Odyssey. Mbok, Dragnet and Workforce should learn. More importantly, for fast growing agencies like GetQualified, PushCV and Alan & Grant (currently handling the GT program of Cordros Capital which has four stages).

Yay!! KPMG sent mails for documentation and mehn, I am so ecstatic. Apparently, I did well in the test. Let’s go there!

What is the glass company Frigoglass up to na? The recruitment process is taking quite long, na national budget dem wan approve? Abi na glass dem dey cook?

Nsi ti kpe (what is happening) with NNPC’s recruitment na? Na hand dem dey use mark the results? Or could they (results) be marked using legs? I mean long legs. LOL.
