How do I apply for internship in investment banks?

3

Good day Sir,

God bless you for the wonderful job you are doing. I am a fresh graduate from school currently serving and I intend becoming an investment banker. I graduated with a Second Class Lower (3.41/5.0) in banking and finance and I recently registered for ACCA because I couldn’t afford CFA. Do you think it is reasonable for me to go to some investment companies and drop my CVs as a means of applying for an internship during my service year? Thank you as I await your response.

Yes, you are in order to enrol for ACCA first. Apart from the cost, CFA can also prove difficult for someone that doesn’t have industry experience or not done any professional exam in the past.

The world has gone beyond hard copies CVs but you may give a trial dropping them as planned. If you are lucky enough and the Security man allows you to get to the reception, all well and good. You may also go to investment banks’ websites, get any email address you see there, send your CV there with a powerful message that you want to intern with them. Unfortunately again, NYSC doesn’t post to private sector again. But there is no harm in trying. You may even be invited for test/interview for substantive position.

All the best.

What do you think you can do that only few others can do? What is your age? List all the things you can do in finance and computing. Have you ever worked? Where will you be serving? Do you hope to get paid during the internship?

Anyway, if your answers show that you can be useful in my team, I may close eyes to your GPA and bring your candidacy to the notice of our HR. With your GPA, I advise that you sell to companies WHAT YOU CAN DO! Go develop SKILLS if you have got none.

    Harrison,

The questions offer you an opportunity to begin selling yourself here, so others can see what you have got.
