In actual fact, where there are ten, twenty people working together, there is bound to be factionalization, loyalty. Sometimes, it may be inevitable to belong to a clique, but a short way to career doom is alienating others. This is part of workplace politics. Try to be friendly with everybody within your workplace. Never get caught up in high-level politicking. If there are factions, try as much as possible to be neutral; if impossible, play smart, avoid being the pointman.
