Yesterday on DCT, we talked about integrity as being everything. Diligence is another very noble quality that has been proved time and again as always pays. Diligence is about doing the right thing and being forthright on it. It embodies commitment and hardwork, or smart-working as latter day career theorists say. If you are diligent in your work, approaching your job as though you are the business owner, even when you are not the owner, chances are you will succeed in it.

I know someone that at the beginning of his career, he used to be so committed that I always wondered whether ‘na hin papa get the job ni’. Looking back, I think he is reaping the rewards now as he not only has rapid promotions, he can decide to go to work almost anytime he likes today, as his level now is such that he delegates a lot of things. He has paid his dues and reaping the fruits today.

Diligence is not old school.
