Dear Jarus, I’m very glad for your good work, keep it up sir. I want to enroll for JAMB 2015, and I want to study Law, I don’t know anything about the job prospect. My friend has told me that law is difficult; I need your advice sir, before I enroll JAMB and before it is too late.

Job prospect is high but within the same context of unemployment challenges in the country. However, being a professional discipline practitioner needs not be employed by anyone to eke out a modest living out of it. Self employment is high! Except in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, where Mathematics is not required at all, applicants need combination of 5 credit pass in O’level. ENGLISH, LITERATURE & GOVERNMENT are generally compulsory both at O’level and JAMB levels.

It’s also not a difficult or expensive course of study at the undergraduate level. However, one year training at the law school is compulsory before a law graduate can be enrolled as a qualified lawyer in Nigeria. The present basic law school fee is N300,000 for the one year duration. A law graduate (LL.B) may choose not to attend law school and will be accepted as normal or ordinary degree holder like graduate of other disciplines.

Because of the way Nigeria operates, you can work in anywhere from a Big 4 Company like KPMG to a bank. Primary course of study rarely matters here. The main issue is for you to try your best to graduate with at least a 2.1 so that you have almost all options open to you. Except you want to practice Pol Sci….
