JOB HUNT CHALLENGE OF A LAW GRADUATE WITH CUSTOMER CARE EXPERIENCE

0
Dear Sir,
Good day Sir, first of all, I would like to commend you for the good work you are doing on your website and say keep it up Sir.
Sir, I am a graduate of Law since 2007, but I have found out that Law is not my thing. By God’s grace I got a job as a Customer Care Representative in 2013 in a telecommunication call centre. I have since then found out that I’m more at home as a CCR. But then towards the end of 2015, the call centre was outsourced to another company which moved out of Lagos.
As I am married with kids, I couldn’t move along with them and had to resign. This was October last year. Since then I have been applying online for any CCR job, but I haven’t got any invitation for test or interview. I have a 2.1 degree and two and half years experience as a CCR. What could be wrong?
Please advice. Thank you Sir.
Yours Sincerely,
Ada

Dear Ada,
I think it is a macroeconomic issue. Things are tight everywhere, only very little jobs.
Companies are laying off, and only very few are recruiting. Many companies use short term contract service for customer care roles, and unfortunately, these are the first set of people that are laid off during hard economic realities.
So, I think it’s just a general economic climate.
That said, there are still pockets of jobs here and there. I advise you  explore referral and networking route too, in addition to the formal advert application channel. Talk to your friends from university, from secondary school, old and new friends you made in the course of your career, tell them not to forget you when an opening comes to their knowledge. You never can tell the difference this may make.
Also, since you’re getting you’re seeing openings and applying but not invited for test or interview, I’m hoping it’s not because of age. However, it may also be due to presentation/packaging of your CV. You may want to try our CV review service  for diagnosis.
I wish you all the best.
