CITN OR ICAN AS ROUTE TO BECOMING TAX PROFESSIONAL?

Hello JarusHub

I am an economics graduate with a desire to become a tax professional. Presently, I am thinking of writing the CITN exams.

However, I don’t know if it will be necessary to write the ICAN exam before CITN.

Please I need your advise.

Dear Josiah,
In my view, CITN is relatively less tough to pass than ICAN. You are likely to finish CITN faster than ICAN.
ICAN without CITN generally gets you tax job faster than CITN without ICAN.
If you start with CITN, you are likely to get a professional certificate faster than if you start with ICAN.
If you start with a tougher ICAN, it may take longer time before you get qualified but with ICAN, CITN becomes relatively easier.
If you have the financial resources and ability to write both simultaneously, you may try that. Otherwise, I will advise you start with ICAN. Then write CITN later.

    Gooday sir, pls I had econmics e8,crk e8 and biology e8 and wanted to go for law but what other course can I go for with the remaining result like literature c6 English c6 mathematics c5 civic a1 govt b3 and the school I intend going is unilag sir pls need an urgent answer becos I am really confused.Thank you.

      Your best bet is sociology/public administration. However, admission also depends on your UTME score. On the other hand, I’ll advise you write WASSCE again. It will give you a cleaner result. This is because your WASSCE results might play a role in your career as you progress.
