AN HND HOLDER’S ROUTE TO BECOMING A FINANCIAL ANALYST

1

Dear Jarus,

I really appreciate coated insight and tips being offered to youth on this platform.
I am a graduate (HND Accounting) from a reputable polytechnic in Nigeria. I am a chartered banker because I have completed the requirements as laid down by The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and also, I am writing my final stage in ICAN.

I am 27 years old and want to pursue a career as a financial analyst. Presently planning to enrol for a masters in investment banking in the UK. Please, advise me on the best route to take.

Many thanks and I hope to get a response soon.

Jeremiah

Dear Jeremiah,

You’re on course. Try and complete that ICAN exam. If you can afford the Masters in IB in the UK, it is great too. Try to equip yourself with financial modeling/Advanced Excel skills too.

With CIBN, ICAN and Msc Investment Banking from UK, you should not have a problem with getting a Financial Analyst job. Once you finish your ICAN, start applying to firms, like local investment banking institutions. When you start your Masters in the UK, try internship opportunities there too.

All the best.

Jarus
